Marianne Hultgren, DNP, RN, CNE

Interim Co-Director, Associate Clinical Professor

 

Dr. Marianne Hultgren is Associate Clinical Professor and the Interim Co-Director of the Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership (MS HAIL) Program at UCSF. Dr. Hultgren has previously served as co-director of the Masters’ Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) and as Vice Chair of Family Health Care Nursing in the UCSF School of Nursing. 

 

Dr. Hultgren is currently core faculty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, the first online degree program in the UCSF School of Nursing. She developed and teaches courses in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety, and Organizational Systems and Healthcare Economics. Dr. Hultgren has also collaboratively developed a series of elective nursing education courses, with the aim of preparing DNP students for roles in clinical and academic nursing education.

 

Dr. Hultgren’s clinical expertise is in Pediatric Critical Care, as a clinical nurse specialist, and school nursing. She holds a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and has been active in nursing education for over thirty years in both clinical and academic settings.  Dr. Hultgren has held leadership positions in Associate, Baccalaureate, Master’s and DNP education, and has extensive experience in curriculum development. An area of special interest is Nursing Student Success; developing and directing The Center for Nursing Student Success at a Hispanic Serving Institution in Central California.

Dr. Hultgren’s international work includes collaborative development of an Interprofessional Baccalaureate curriculum and BSN degree at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya.  Dr. Hultgren has also been an invited visiting professor at Soka University in Hachioji, Tokyo, Japan.
