Continuing your education is a sound investment in your future. The demand for graduate education is steadily rising and a master’s degree is becoming the standard credential for most healthcare management and leadership positions.
As a working professional, you have many responsibilities and the decision to pursue a graduate degree is an important one. UCSF’s Master of Science in Healthcare Administration and Interprofessional Leadership program provides you with the value and advantage you expect from a premier university. The online format, workplace practicums, and on-campus intensive courses are expressly designed so that you can continue with your current employment and contribute to your organization while earning your advanced degree.
Program cost
Program fees for the full 36 unit program are $60,880 ($15,220 per quarter) for the 2024-2025 academic year for new and continuing students. This covers the online courses and the on-campus sessions.
Tuition for the three on-campus intensives includes full days of course instruction per session, any required learning materials, meals each day, and a variety of activities to promote effective connections with UCSF staff, leadership colleagues, and experts in the field. Travel, lodging, and any other additional costs are not included in the tuition.

Financial Aid

Admissions Scholarships
The MS-HAIL program offers a limited number of partial admissions scholarships to newly admitted students who apply to either Fall or Spring start terms. To date, 60% of our entering students have been awarded scholarships. There are two types of scholarships, professional experience-based and financial need-based. Those interested in being considered for a scholarship are also encouraged to submit their admissions applications and scholarship documents early to ensure awards can be announced at the time of admission decision.
Community Impact Scholarships
Applicants who wish to be considered will be required to write a 250-300 word essay that describes and provides at least one personal example of one or more of the following that demonstrates:
- The impact of your current work in medically underserved or health professional shortage areas, or with medically underserved populations.
- Your exemplary commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in health care.
- Your exemplary commitment to leadership in health care.
To be eligible for the spring 2025 cohort, applicants must submit their scholarship essay via the scholarship form, admissions application, and all supporting documents by the January 21, 2025, final application deadline.
Financial Need-Based Scholarships
To be considered for a need-based scholarship you must complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by January 21, 2025. UCSF's school code is 001319. Once you submit the FAFSA please complete this brief need-based scholarship form. Additionally, you must submit your completed admissions application and all supporting documents by the fall application deadline.
Please note: All scholarship applications are reviewed and awards are determined after the January 21st application deadline. Additionally, while applicants may apply for both scholarship types, they will only be offered one. UCSF employees who qualify for a financial fee-offset may apply for scholarships; however, if a scholarship is awarded, the employee can only choose one financial award. They will not receive a scholarship award and the employee fee offset. Additionally, the MS-HAIL program does NOT qualify for the University of California 2/3rd tuition discount program for UC employees.
