How to Apply

Applying to graduate school is a big decision that can be both daunting and exciting.  Choosing a program that is aligned with your professional and educational goals and interests that also works effectively with your schedule and life demands is critical to your satisfaction and success as a graduate student. We want to help you make an informed decision and have a smooth application process.

Things you can do:

  • Review our website, including the FAQ's and make note of what resonates with you about our program.
  • Gather your questions and give us a call 415-476-8109 or send us an email. We are here to be a resource for you and to assist you with the process.
  • Attend one of our monthly informational webinars. Learn about our program directly from program faculty, directors, staff, and graduates.
  • Create an online application account and review the online application instructions carefully. 
  • Study our application requirements and pace yourself appropriately. For example:
    • Request letters of recommendation early, as these need lead time since they require the efforts of others, and
    • Update your resume/CV to ensure it is current and highlights activities (professional, community, volunteer, etc.) that speak to your leadership experience, capabilities, and potential.
  • Become familiar with financial aid resources and program admissions scholarships that may be available to you.

  • Re-read your application before you click "submit." It can be useful to have a friend, colleague, or family member look it over as well.
  • Aim to submit your application earlier than the posted deadline.
  • Repeat bullet # 2 as often as you need.
  • Congratulate yourself for seizing the opportunity to apply!
